SWCOLT Awards:

SWCOLT recognizes outstanding world language educators  and supporters of world language education in the Southwest region via the following categories: Friend of the Profession, Honorary Lifetime Member, Excellence in Teaching (Elementary, Secondary, Post-secondary). 

Nominations are now open for 2027--Deadline to submit a nomination: November 7, 2026.

SWCOLT Teacher of the Year Award:

Each year, the nine states in the SWCOLT region submit a state Teacher of the Year candidate for consideration as SWCOLT Teacher of the Year. The 2026 SWCOLT Teacher of the Year was chosen from the eight state candidates below and was named at SWCOLT-CCFLT 2026 on February 21, 2026. Maylen Sullivan of California will represent SWCOLT at the ACTFL conference in November 2026 as a candidate for National Teacher of the Year!
